Bishops Bowl Fishery is situated in a lovely rural setting just outside of the villages of Bishops Itchington and Harbury on the Oxfordshire/Warwickshire borders. The lakes are set in a former 90 acre limestone quarry which has been allowed to flood naturally.

The quarry work many years ago has created an attractive stone faced bowl, which has two areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific interest, whilst the whole site is recorded as a Site of Interest for Nature and Conservation. This unique fishery offers a wide variety of lakes which cater for anglers of all abilities.

MITRE POOL

The margins of this 5.6 acre lake are lined with Norfolk Rush, providing habitats for a variety of wildlife. The lake has developed naturally, being bordered to the east by a limestone cliff face, with depths varying from 4 to 34ft, and shelves and ledges throughout providing the most interesting of fishing. The lake is stocked with approximately 500 mirror and common carp between 10 and 30lbs. This is the “runs” water.

Available for day tickets and night fishing there are a total of 15 pegs each with ample room for bivvies.

WALWORTH

A 1 acre lake with 16 pegs incorporating the pond previously known as the dinosaur dip, this lake has a wide variety of features throughout with depths from 2-7ft. It has a large stock of Carp from 4oz to 10lb plus, Bream to 4lbs, Crucians to 2.5lbs, numerous Tench to 4lbs, Roach, plus Rudd and Perch.

The lake is suitable for pole fishing ideal for club matches and pleasure anglers who want to catch a wide variety of fish.Easy access pegs available in places.

WHITE BISHOP LAKE

A 1.5 acre, 26 peg pleasure and match lake with depths 2-12ft, with the margins producing good results. This lake is consistent throughout the year, providing good catches of silver fish during the winter months. Tench fishing in this lake is remarkable, with fish exceeding 7lb being caught and numerous around the 3-4lb mark. Easy access pegs available in places. Night fishing available for carp up to 20lb+, but availability is subject to match bookings.Club and match bookings available.

GREENHILL LAKE

A 24 acre lake sheltered by cliffs, some of which are Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Flora and fauna abound, but the expanse of the water is broken by a number of islands, channels and bays. Depths vary from 2-35ft, and it is relatively untouched as it has not been fished since the early 1980’s when it was a trout water.

Anyone wishing to get away form the hustle and bustle of commercial carp fisheries can spend time in relative isolation on a truly amazing water. The stock levels have never been quantified, but on a still, sunny day from the bank, shoals of roach, bream and tench can be seen as well as large numbers of carp easily in excess of 20lbs, not to mention large pike.

MARSHES 1

A 14 peg lake, ideally suited to club and pleasure anglers. Each peg has plenty of character surrounded by Norfolk rush and an abundance of wildlife. It has been stocked with crucian carp, tench, bream, barbel, chub, mirror and common carp, roach, and rudd.

MARSHES 2

This is a 12 peg lake situated adjacent to Marshes 1. Both lakes are stocked to the same level per peg, meaning that they can be booked and fished as one by larger clubs. It is stocked with crucian carp, tench, bream, barbel, chub, mirror and common carp, roach, and rudd. Lots of silver fish can be caught all year round.

CLIFFS

A 30 peg lake, opening later in 2012. Flanked by a unique geological feature, most of which is designated SSSI, this lake is extremely sheltered from the wind. Stocked with crucian carp, tench, bream, barbel, chub, mirror and common carp, roach, and rudd. Bream are the largest species in this lake, with fish ranging from 3-7lb commonplace, with an abundance of other fish too.
