Four Well Stocked Stunning Mature Lakes Set In Beautiful Countryside Surroundings On The Outskirts Of Carlton, Stockton-On-Tees. Teessides Best Kept Secret Fishing Hotspot! The Carrs Angling Lakes has already produced fantastic days fishing for anglers of all abilities. With 96 firm individual pegs to try you will be spoilt for choice!

Lake One - A popular pleasure lake, Lake One produces quality mixed bags of fish species throughout the year. As with all the other lakes the water is very coloured, meaning fish can be caught very close in. This Lake is Heavily Stocked with carp to 15lb, tench (green and golden) to 4.5lb, roach to 1.5lb, bream & skimmers to 5lb, ide to 3lb, rudd to 1lb, barbel to 3lb, chub to 3lb, golden orfe to 3.5lb and lovely "buttery coloured" crucians to well over 1lb. Even occasional eels can also show up.

Due to the large variety of swims Lake One suits all methods of coarse fishing used on still waters, particularly effective are float fished dog biscuits or bread in the summer months around the margins.

Features: Lake one contains three islands, the main water outlet for the complex and an old lake bed, depths average 4-5ft.

Lake 2 - Carp have been officially recorded at 22.5lb in this lake but rumours are rife of much bigger fish prowling the margins and large expanses of open water. It is very possible you could catch a new lake record as the fish are young and still growing fast.

As well as the carp the species from Lake One are all present. Wind direction can be key, although sheltered even a slight breeze may push a lot of fish to one end of the lake in search of food. TIP: Unusually for the northeast, the carp in lake two seem to feed right through the winter, ledgered baits, esp maggots and bread are a popular approach... if the temperature creeps above freezing!

Features: Lake two has a large expanse of open water with two large islands, one at either end. Corners and small bays can be just as prolific as the open water. The lake also contains the main water inlet for the site. Depths average 5.5ft

Match Lake - The match lake was dug in 2008, but has matured incredibly quickly. It is smaller than the lakes one and two, but just as exciting. The lake is stocked mostly with carp to 10lb averaging about 3-4lb. The other species stocked are ide plus some chub, barbel and tench.

All species are growing very quickly in this lake, for example the barbel stocked in january 2009 at 6-8" long and weighing around 5oz, weighed an astonishing 3lb by august of that year! In fact much of the lake looks like a river from the bankside.

Dug with the pole angler in mind, this lake is very popular especially throughout summer when the carp are in full feed mode. Float fishing is quite effective also, just be ready for some hard fights! Heavy weights in short spaces of time are common, and now with the added ide and chub this water can produce some exciting full days of action. TIP: As fish are closer to you in this lake, it pays to keep extra quiet, this includes vibrations.

Features: 5 islands all between 9m and 11m from the bank with channels allowing water flow between them. Swims are designed to be as equal as possible. Islands are surrounded by a 3ft deep by 2.5ft wide ledge which drops away to 5ft, this then steadily increases up to the angler.

Silver Lake -
The Newest lake is also the smallest, and shallowest. The silver lake is the first lake you will see as the approach the site, as its name suggests it is heavily stocked with the silver fish species found in the other lakes. There are however a number of tench and crucians for added variety.

This lake is ideally suited for beginners, there are vast quantities of fish that have never seen a hook in here. Perfect for the pole or rod, this shallow lake will heat up quickly in the spring and so will the action. TIP: Try a variety of baits to tempt different species.

Features: Average depth 3ft. There are two islands, a few small ledges can be found on the islands off certain pegs. Much deeper water (averaging 8ft) can be found between these two islands and also at the end of the lake closest to the carpark, these are certain to be popular spots in cooler or very hot weather.
