Set in beautiful rolling Staffordshire countryside on the fringe of the village of Hamstall Ridware is Hamstall Pleasure Fishery, a venue which is reserved entirely for pleasure anglers because it does not hold matches.
With many pegs suitable for disabled anglers, it offers four pools of differing characteristics plus a largely unfished stretch of the nearby River Blithe which can be reached by crossing over the small bridge near the flow measuring station between Pools One and Two.
Pool 1 is mixed with new stocks of carp, tench, bream, roach, rudd and crucians. It's ideal for the novice angler.
Pool 2 has carp to 20lb, some cracking tench to 12lb, bream to 10lb, roach and rudd topping 1lb 8oz plus some perch, chub and crucians.
Pool 3 is specimen biased with carp to 20lb plus a few other species.
Pool 4 has carp to 10lb, bream to 5lb plus loads of new stocks as described for pool 1. The
River Blythe has chub to 5lb, dace and other species.
Lodge accommodation is available. On the mixed pools simplicity is the key. Float fish corn, maggot, caster, worm, pellet, meat or paste. On the specimen pool leger larger pellets, meat or corn. Travel light on the river and stalk the chub on bread flake, cheese or lobworm.
Tickets from the fishing lodge on the way in. If closed, on the bank. Adults are priced at £7 with concessions £5. Toilets/food on site. No keepnets.
To get there, exit the A38 at Alrewas and pick up the A513 to King's Bromley. At King's Bromley turn right onto the A515 towards Yoxall After 0.75 miles turn left at the roundabout towards Morrey / Hamstall Ridware. At the junction turn right for Hamstall Ridware and the fishery is on the right just before the village.
