A deep, weed-free natural lake of 110 acres at 1250ft above sea level acts as a header reservoir for another further downstream. Almost completely treeless for miles around, the shoreline is mountain grassland and sometimes boggy - the most convenient place to fish being beside the narrow mountain access road and near the stream outlet.

Let wind direction dictate your choice of where to fish - anywhere where it is directly off the water being the best place. Three species of fish predominate - pike, perch and roach. All are in large numbers and reach good sizes - the pike going to over 22lbs.

No fishing is allowed from boats. The bottom, within normal casting range from the roadside end, is generally covered with angular stones of all sizes, so use suitable tackle with a hooklength when bottom fishing.

Tickets can be bought from the machine at Llyn Brenig visitor centre. Livebaits are banned, and it's barbless hooks only.
