This fairly new fishery is already building up a healthy reputation. The Large Lake is a mixed fishery and home to carp of all sizes to 23lb, catfish to over 10lb, superb tench to 9lb 4oz and a good variety of other species. The Small Lake is similarly stocked with carp, again of all sizes, up to around the 12lb mark.
Float fish soft pellet, maggot, caster, corn, meat, chopped worm or paste for mixed catches, including carp of all sizes. A small Method feeder can have it's day too, fished in conjunction with dead red maggots, sweetcord or pellet. The Small Lake is an excellent water to fish as an introductory to carp. A small amount of pellet, maggot or caster should be ample to catch plenty on this one.
Ticket prices are £7 for the Small Lake, and £8 for the Large Lake. Evening permits (4.30pm to 10pm) are £5. All costs are for one rod, it's £2 extra per rod. Tickets from the office on the way in. Barbless hooks only. No keepnets. Toilets on site. Food available. Open all year.
To get there, exit M53 J4 and pick up the B5136 to Thornton Hough. Go through Thornton Hough and after one mile the fishery is signposted on the left, opposite the Grange Country Club.
